CEO & FOUNDER
Xiaohong (Sophie) Qi, an innovative social entrepreneur, is the CEO and Founder of Harmonia Holdings, Ltd, a global cultural enterprise dedicated to connecting Asia and the West through the arts, premier education programs, and world-class culture products.
Qi leads Harmonia to leverage its targeted knowledge and expertise in cross-cultural exchange for Broadway and West End productions, top arts education programs, pioneering cultural investment products, and innovative philanthropic ventures. She establishes impactful arts education platforms for children, youth and industry professionals; leads international collaborations and partnerships between premier talents of live theatrical and pop music; and produces artistic works that advance global understanding between cultures.
Her commercial theatre work extends deep into leading Broadway and West End projects. Qi is currently co-producer for the epic Broadway production of KING KONG THE MUSICAL. She is also co-producing the highly anticipated MOULIN ROUGE THE MUSICAL, and the stunning rock musical JAGGED LITTLE PILL based on Alanis Morissette’s songbook, both projects headed to Broadway in 2019. She is a co-Producer on ROMAN HOLIDAY, based on the beloved classic Paramount Pictures film, as well as the off-Broadway premier of the TYA show THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR. Other theatre producing projects include the current UK tour of the Dreamwork’s classic, MADAGASCAR, and a new musical in development, LOVE, ROSIE, a romantic comedy-drama based on the independent film of the same name. Qi brought JERSEY BOYS, into China for its premier tour in the territory in 2017 and 2018.
Qi established Broadway Academy in 2018, a musical theatre education platform providing classes, camps and seminars for elementary, middle school, high school, and college students as well as professional performer and teacher training programs. Broadway Academy partners with iTheatrics, the creators of Broadway Junior products and exclusive supplier to Disney, China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG), the largest state-owned creative enterprise in China, the Shanghai Cultural Square, and the Junior Theatre Festival, boasting the largest gathering of musical theatre students in the world. Her work in arts education is anchored by key partnerships with the China National Theatre for Children (Beijing, China), the Educational Theatre Association / International Thespian Society, the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte (Charlotte, NC), and the Haileybury International School (Tianjin, China).
Qi represents and manages world-class creative talents, such as master choreographers Shaun Evaristo, Miguel Zarate, and Laure Courtellemont, for commercial collaborations, teaching, and professional development opportunities throughout Asia. Past engagements include major Chinese pop artist such as Lu Han, Chris Lee, Victoria Song, and media platforms such as CCTV and streaming giant iQiyi.
Qi is responsible for forging strategic partnerships with numerous leading entities in live theatrical entertainment, talent management, licensing and arts education in the US, UK, Northern Europe, South Korea, Australia and South Africa. Included among these industry leading partners are Broadway Licensing (US), Samuel French Inc. (US), Theatrical Rights Worldwide (US), Selladoor Worldwide (UK), Les Enfants Terrible (UK), Aria Entertainment (UK), Harvest Rain Theatre Company (Australia), Tarento Productions (UK), DIMF -Daegu International Musical Festival (South Korea), the British Theatre Academy (UK), and the Joberg Theatre (Johannesburg, SA), as well as many of top independent Broadway and West End producers.
Prior to founding Harmonia, she served in management roles in U.S and Chinese corporations in a variety of industries, including export/import trade, leisure and dining, investment banking, and luxury real estate. She played an instrumental role in establishing a high net-worth, US financial firm in the Mainland China and Hong Kong markets, subsequently overseeing its expansion throughout several major cities in China.
Qi is also a strong proponent for grassroots nonprofit innovation. She has devoted herself to improving cultural exposure and learning for children, especially by initiating and organizing a series of annual charity concerts for multiple philanthropy organizations such as INCLUDED, Dream Corps, New York Chinese Opera Society, etc. She is a key supporter of London’s Page to Stage festival, an international incubator of new Musical Theatre.
Qi serves on the Lincoln Center’s Global Council as a distinguished senior advisor to the organization regarding a variety of engagements with China and its global expansion. She is a long-time supporter of New York Asian Women’s Center. Under her leadership, Harmonia is a proud corporate member of National Committee of US and China Relations, the American Chamber of Commerce in China, the National Alliance of Musical Theatre, and The American Theatre Wing. Finally, Qi is a member of the Broadway League, the top industry organization of theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers in North America.
Kenneth Dingledine is the President of Harmonia. As one of the most respected executives in the industry, he has worked in the theatrical production and licensing world for over 20 years. Before joining Harmonia, Ken led major content supply and author representative companies including musical theatre specialist, Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW) as Senior Vice President, responsible for heading all of TRW’s domestic and international operations. Prior to TRW, Ken was Vice President and Director of Operations for Samuel French Inc, the oldest and largest performing arts agent and licensing company in the world.
Ken has developed shows for Broadway and regional theatres across the United States and redeveloped existing content for localized market distribution. He has worked in the UK marketplace with both West End and touring production companies distributing their productions to theatre organizations and presenters across the world. In his career, he has brought over 800 new works into the worldwide theatrical market place and exposed the work of over 500 artists and creators including such high-grossing musical titles as CHICAGO, GREASE, and the recent Broadway smash, ROCK OF AGES. He also has published and promoted the work of legendary authors including Pulitzer Prize winners, Neil Simon, August Wilson and Thornton Wilder.
